Who is Steve Kitch?

Steve Kitch - Mastering Engineer

Welcome, I am Steve Kitch, a professional mastering engineer with over 25 years of experience in the music industry. I primarily work from my personal studio in Devon, UK, and offer mastering services for artists, bands, production companies, and labels. With extensive experience, I can cater to a vast array of genres, clients, and budgets, ensuring that your music is in good hands.

In 1996, I founded Audiomaster, which was one of the first mastering studios to pioneer online delivery, now the accepted standard for receiving mixes and delivering masters. After 22 years, my reputation and experience had steadily grown over the past two decades, leading me to rebrand to “Steve Kitch Mastering” in 2018. I believe that at this stage of my career, my reputation speaks for itself, and I no longer need to hide behind a company name.

If you are reading this, you are probably thinking about getting someone involved to master your project. Whether you have recorded at home or in a top studio, I can help you out and deliver great-sounding masters. What will you be paying for? You will primarily be paying for my experience, good ears, great gear, and my ability to deliver top-notch masters. I work closely with my clients to achieve the results they desire, ensuring that they are 100% satisfied with the final outcome. Projects can be sent online or via post, and attendance is not required. Sample mixes will be provided, and tweaks/changes will be done until everyone is happy.

Mastering Engineer - Steve Kitch

I strongly believe that with mastering comes great responsibility. The artist spends years writing, producing, and mixing their music, and then the mastering engineer comes in at the last stage. It could be someone you have never met, and it’s very easy to ruin a good album, which I have unfortunately heard done many times. With mastering, there are no shortcuts or easy wins. There is no room for compromise. It’s vital to respect the mix, enhance what is already there, and only make corrections if necessary. I like to work with the band rather than blindly imprint my own taste over everything. My aim with the finished master is to create a cohesive and satisfying listening experience that brings out the very best of everything.
